The firm traces its roots to the practice of Frank Terrell who came to Kansas City in the 1920's from Parsons, KS to start his law career. After practicing with several other well known Kansas City lawyers for several years, Frank started out on his own in 1940. Frank developed a number of influential and successful business clients, some of whom still are represented by the firm. Guy Magruder joined Frank right after WWII and was followed shortly thereafter by Charles Hess and Paul Van Osdol, Jr. In the early 60's Charlie Hess left and Dick Erickson and Bob Redmond joined the firm as Associates and then became Partners. When Bob Beachy joined in 1972, the firm had only six lawyers and was regarded as one of the top firms in the city. The firm maintained its dedication to representing family owned businesses and has enjoyed steady growth with the addition of legal expertise in labor and employment, charities and nonprofits and expanded its growing need for attorneys to help clients with their litigation needs. In 2000, we expanded our range of skills and services by adding a highly experienced and successful attorney in criminal defense. Mindy Ward became the firm's first female shareholder in 2007.
