Melinda Ward joined our firm in July 2003, bringing expertise in taxation and estate and business planning. Prior to joining us, she practiced with a large area firm specializing in complex estate, business, gift and tax planning issues including preparation of Wills and Trusts, Family Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, S Corporations, Irrevocable Trusts, Charitable Trusts and many other sophisticated estate and business planning devices. In addition, Mindy advises clients in all types of fiduciary controversies, administers estates and trusts and prepares federal and state individual, estate, gift, corporate and generation-skipping tax returns as well as fiduciary income tax returns for estates and trusts. Mindy is recognized for providing excellent service in a timely manner while giving the client the personal attention they deserve.
Mindy is a member of the Kansas City Estate Planning Society, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (Taxation and Probate Committees), and is admitted to both the Missouri and Kansas Bar. She graduated from William Jewell College with a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration in 1995. She served on the Law Review and the Urban Lawyer while attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law graduating in the top of her class with a Juris Doctorate in 1999 and a Masters Degree in the Law of Taxation in 2000. Mindy was the first recipient of the Estate Planning Society Award and currently serves as the Greater Kansas City Leave A Legacy Co-Chair. She also participates civically through service on several charitable boards in various capacities including the Children’s Mercy Hospital Donald H. Chisholm Planned Giving Council and as Chairman of the Ella C. Loose Heritage Society Advisory Board for the benefit of Gillis.
