Michael P. Joyce 
Protecting constitutional rights is the foundation of representing persons and companies under investigation or accused of committing a criminal offense. Mike zealously and aggressively represents clients to ensure their rights are protected and justice is served whether defending an executive against a white collar criminal charge or a driver on a DUI/DWI charge.
Mike's law practice as a trial lawyer has focused on criminal and civil trials and appeals and post-conviction relief, with an emphasis on defending persons and entities charged in federal and state courts in Kansas and Missouri. Mike has tried or been involved in cases before the trial and/or appellate courts at the federal or state level throughout the country. His accomplishments include acquittals at every level of government prosecution from municipal court to state court to federal court. Mike has extensive experience leading investigations designed to determine if and to what extent wrongdoing has occurred before and after charges are filed. Mike has been involved in representing individuals and companies in health care fraud and abuse related matters (civil and criminal) since 1992. Mike is one of only a few attorneys in Kansas City that have defended a physician through a trial in a fraud case involving physician billing.
Mike is a member of the American, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations. He is also a member of the National and Missouri Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mike is currently a member of the board of directors for the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Mike received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Creighton University in 1982 and his J. D. Degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1988. Mr. Joyce has been in private practice in Kansas City since graduating from law school. He co-taught a course at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School entitled "Criminal Sentencing-Law, Practice and Procedure" for five years.
